Blitz Championship: A Milestone for Team Turkey
Following his triumph in the Backgammon Blitz division at the 2026 Georgia Grand Prix, Ali Haydar Bayar described the result as a special achievement. A major highlight of this victory for him was seeing Turkish players sweep every position on the podium.
In remarks published in the official journal of the International Backgammon Federation, Bayar stated that this outcome was a remarkable achievement for his country's team. In his view, claiming the championship title alongside the success of his fellow Turkish teammates greatly enriched the entire experience.
Training and Preparation Ahead of the Tournament
Prior to the event, Bayar trained extensively and prepared as thoroughly as possible for the competition. Nevertheless, he highlighted another key philosophy in his remarks: for any athlete, the most important priority is simply enjoying the game itself.
This perspective reveals that alongside his ambition for top results, enjoying the competition remains an essential part of his athletic experience.
Backgammon as a Daily Routine
For Bayar, backgammon is far from being confined to official tournaments and international stages. In the IBF Journal, he shared that the game is deeply woven into his everyday life.
According to him, family members regularly play matches at home, analyze their moves, and learn from one another. This shared dynamic has turned practice and skill development into a natural part of their daily life.
Bayar's comments paint a vivid picture of his continuous relationship with backgammon. Growth for him does not merely happen over tournament boards, but is nurtured through everyday games and family analysis sessions.
Dedicating the Victory to His Sister
Concluding his interview, Bayar declared that he dedicates this victory to his sister. While the article in the IBF Journal does not elaborate further on this dedication, it represents a heartfelt, personal dimension of his title run.
Alongside the significance of this win for Team Turkey, this gesture demonstrates Bayar's desire to share his triumph directly with family.
