Day One Summary of the Asian Grand Prix in Tajikistan

The first day of the Asian Grand Prix in Tajikistan began with 318 players from 30 countries. From the outset, the venue had a friendly, sportsmanlike atmosphere, with plenty of excitement around the competition.

On the opening day, the Backgammon Main, Doubles, and several side tournaments officially got underway, with the first results coming in.

Backgammon Main

The Backgammon Main featured 157 players. Three rounds were played on the opening day.

After three rounds, 20 players remain undefeated, while 59 players have one loss. In total, 138 players are still in contention for the championship title.

Doubles

The Doubles competition began with a 128-player bracket, and one round was played on the first day. This event is still in its early stages.

Side Tournaments

Several other competitions also got underway alongside the main events:

  • Backgammon Blitz with 128 players

  • Sprintgammon with a 128-player bracket

  • Backgammon 1-point with 128 players

Three rounds were played in these events, and 16 players remain in contention.
